OWENSBORO, KY. (Nov. 6, 11:10 a.m. ET) -- Tool and die maker Industrial Mold & Machine Co. is expanding and adding larger and more efficient equipment so it can offer a wider range of services to its customers. The Owensboro-based company is investing more than $1.3 million to add 16,000 square feet to its existing 23,000 square feet.

CHICAGO (Oct. 30, 12:15 p.m. ET) -- Chicago and Orlando each want to be the home of the 2012 and 2015 NPE trade show, and big-name politicians are making their case. SPI President and CEO Bill Carteaux met on Oct. 28 with Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley -- in Daley’s office -- and Carteaux has also discussed the issue with the mayor of Orange County, Fla., and the governors of Illinois and Florida. SPI’s 12-person NPE executive committee will have the final vote, and Carteaux said they plan to make a decision by the end of the year.

FITCHBURG, MASS. (Oct. 23, 2:55 p.m. ET) -- Despite the economic downtown and a smaller presence, MassPlastics 2009 remains an important New England event, according to organizers. “We do the show because it is a statement for the region. It is not just to show the history of plastics, but to show that there is lot of diversity here, from medical devices to defense work to staple consumer goods -- that’s the primary reason,” said David McKeehan, president of the North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce.

ELK GROVE VILLAGE, ILL. (Oct. 14, 12:25 p.m. ET) -- Heaterwerks Inc., a new maker of hot runners, temperature controllers, heaters and sensors, has moved into a new plant in Elk Grove Village. Heaterwerks started operating in July, President Dean Stojka said.

TROY, MICH. (Oct. 13, 3:55 p.m. ET) — Hot runner maker Incoe Corp. and tooling component firm Beaumont Technologies Inc. have entered an agreement which will allow each firm to sell each others’ products, and allow Incoe to sell both hot runner and cold runner systems.
