AKRON, OHIO — Beginning Oct. 5, visitors to PlasticsNews.com will find a new weekly Web video series, Material Insights.
Plastics News senior reporter Frank Esposito, who covers resin pricing, materials, compounders and distributors, will be the primary host of the series, which is produced Mondays in PN’s newsroom in Akron.
Material Insights will recap important materials-related stories in each week’s issue of the newspaper, and hosts will offer additional insights on the sector that will be valuable to plastics processors, as materials are the largest component cost of almost every plastic product.
The offering is part of Plastics News Global Group’s plan to deliver Web-based multimedia such as video and audio clips, slide shows, interactive Web chats and webinars, said Tony Eagan, vice president and group publisher.
“Material Insights is the latest offering from Plastics News to serve up critical and timely information about the vital, and volatile, materials marketplace,” Eagan said. “The information we’ll bring to the market with this new series will complement our materials-related offerings in print and online.
“In addition to telling readers what to expect in pricing trends, we’ll cover the stories behind the stories in mergers and acquisitions, materials news, compounding and distribution trends.”
As new episodes of Material Insights are added to the Web site, older programs will remain in virtual lineups that can be accessed with a click of a computer mouse. Each video can be shared using click-through e-mail and “Get link” icons located on the Web page under the viewing window.
“We hope the series provides anyone involved in the materials market with the insights they need to make good decisions and remain competitive in a challenging climate,” Esposito said. “Even in a down climate, North American processors buy and process more than 100 billion pounds of resin every year and spend about $10 billion on compounds and concentrates.”
Copy editor Dan Hockensmith is the videographer for Material Insights.
Four Plastics News Global Group Web sites cover North America, Europe and Asia and boast more than 5,400 daily visitor sessions and about 509,000 monthly page views.
