ST. CHARLES, ILL. (May 8, 10:55 a.m. ET) -- Hot runner manufacturer Melt Design Inc. has invested $500,000 in a new machining center and is looking for experienced workers as it boosts its manufacturing technology to keep up with increased demand for its services.
The new Mazak double column machining center at its St. Charles facility is capable of running on pieces up to 35 inches by 60 inches, said Richard Genc, director of sales.
The company has been seeing increased business from existing customers in the caps and closures business as well as new work from medical molders, Genc said. It is also getting additional work from molders who want MDI to upgrade older equipment with improved hot runners to improve their production without the full cost of all new tools and systems.
The company is not saying how many workers it wants to hire, but it is looking for people with experience on the new equipment.
