KraussMaffei expanding PU equipment business in Asia
By Steve Toloken
PLASTICS NEWS STAFF

SHANGHAI (June 16, 2009) -- German machinery maker KraussMaffei Machinery Co. Ltd. is expanding its capabilities for polyurethane (PU) equipment in Asia, expanding capacity in both China and Japan, in response to a growing PU market in both countries.

The Munich, Germany-based company said the expansion of its Shanghai facility, established in 2001, is aimed at expanding its position in the PU insulation markets in China. It will provide more space for customer trials, production capacity and mold design. The company also said it is focused on China’s automotive market.

At its facility in Okazaki, Japan, the company said the expansion will substantially increase production capacity and laboratory space, and said the Japanese market, which it entered in 2006, has “far” exceeded initial forecasts.

The company said the expansion will provide for more opportunity to export machinery from Germany.
