Steer enters new markets

Bangalore (November 1, 2009) -- Bangalore-based Steer Engineering Pvt. Ltd. has appointed Taurus Comtrade Fzco of Dubai its agency to sell Steer’s products in the Middle East Asia and Africa.

A Steer spokesman told Plastics News that the Middle East Asia region consists of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Egypt, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Uzbekistan, and Pakistan.

As resin production continues to grow in this part of the world, the company said in a news release, downstream processing is also catching up.

Taurus Comtrade was founded in 2008 and sells resin additives, catalysts, and modifiers.

Steer manufactures extrusion equipment as well as tooling. The company also makes heart valve frames and hopes to develop medical and aerospace applications.

K.S. Ramsubramaniam, director of marketing at Steer, said the company will “work closely with Taurus to develop new product to best address customer needs and deliver innovative and tailor-made products to the local market.â€

Steer has branches in Akron, Ohio; Monschau, Germany; Nantong, China; and Tokyo.
