Sunarrow closes Hungarian manufacturing plant
TOKYO (SEPTEMBER 29, 2009) -- Japanese electronics component moulder Sunarrow has announced the closure of its Hungarian manufacturing plant in Komárom with the loss of 76 jobs. The Tokyo-based company also operates three Chinese plants in Xiamen, Beijing and Shenzhen, one at Saraburi, Thailand, and four in Japan.

Thin-walled packaging market holds up in Europe

Aerospace market in Asia attracts global firms

HONG KONG (September 15, 2009) -- Projections for solid growth over the next 20 years in Asia’s aerospace market, even factoring in a slumping market from the economic crisis, are drawing some plastics firms to look for opportunities there. Several American, Japanese and Hong Kong firms came to the Asian Aerospace International Expo and Congress, held Sept. 8-10 in Hong Kong, hoping to tap into the Asia Pacific market or reinforce their position in the aviation supply chain.

Milacron emerges from Chapter 11
BATAVIA, OHIO (August 25, 2009) -- Milacron Inc. has a new name, and a new president and CEO, as it emerges from Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Milacron LLC, a new company owned by a group of investors led by Avenue Capital Group and DDJ Capital Management LLC, completed its previously announced purchase of substantially all of the businesses and assets of Batavia-based Milacron Inc.

Engel touts growth in Mexico

Biodegradable dinnerware maker to announce U.S. sites
HOUSTON (August 18, 2009) -- A Texas entrepreneur has been touring multiple Midwest cities looking to locate multiple plants in the U.S. for a Chinese manufacturer of biodegradeable plastic dinnerware. The firm will announce its locations within 30 days.

US machinery major Milacron cuts 130 jobs
BATAVIA, OHIO (August 18, 2009) -- Milacron Inc. announced it plans to cut 130 positions across its North American businesses — about 10 percent of its workforce. Meanwhile, the Batavia-based plastics machinery maker company awaits a sale that will bring it out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Singapore's Sunningdale reports cautious optimism
SINGAPORE (Aug 18, 2009) -- Sunningdale Tech Ltd said it faces a challenging business environment for the rest of this year though there are signs that the global economic crisis may be bottoming out. The Singapore-based injection molder and tooling supplier said it remains cautious for the rest of the year.

Gurit acquires stake in Chinese firm
ZURICH (August 4, 2009) -- Swiss composite firm Gurit plans to strengthen its position in the wind turbine market after negotiating a deal to acquire a majority stake in an unnamed Chinese structural foam company in Qingdao, Shandong province. Gurit also owns a foam plant in Tianjin.

Nissei boosts capacity of new Taicang factory
TAICANG, JIASNGSU (August 4, 2009) -- The global economic downturn has pushed Japanese injection press maker Nissei Plastic Industrial Co. Ltd. to significantly boost capacity for its planned Chinese factory, its first manufacturing facility outside Japan.
