Cabot completes expansion in China
RUBBER & PLASTICS NEWS

TIANJIN (October 27, 2009) -- Cabot Corp. has completed a 150,000-metric-ton capacity expansion at its carbon black facility in Tianjin. The facility’s annual production capacity now is nearly 300,000 tons, the company said.

The plant is a project of Cabot Chemical (Tianjin) Co., Ltd., an equity joint venture between Cabot (China) Ltd. and Shanghai Coking Chemical Co., a member of the Huayi Group. Cabot and Shanghai Coking have been joint venture partners since 1988.

The Tianjin unit came on stream in August 2006.

Patrick Pevost, Cabon president and CEO, said the Tianjin site is the largest and most technologically advanced carbon black plant in the world.
