Schulman planning new masterbatch plant in India
PLASTICS NEWS REPORT
FAIRLAWN, OHIO (October, 2007) -- A. Schulman, Inc. plans to establish a masterbatch facility in western India, an area that the company considers a “key geographic growth market.”
The Fairlawn-based compounder and distributor has not yet determined a specific location for the facility, according to an Oct. 26 news release. But the firm said the facility will start with one
line that will manufacture the company’s masterbatch products for the packaging, appliance and consumer products markets. Its capacity is projected to be about 12 million pounds (5,443 metric tons)
per year, and production will begin within the next 12 months.
“In line with our strategic direction, we are continuing our geographic expansion in growing markets across Asia,” said Joseph Gingo, chairman, president and CEO, in the news release. The new
plant will be the company’s third manufacturing plant in Asia.
