Taiwan's Jenn Chong to double capacity
By Steve Toloken
PLASTICS NEWS

CHICAGO (June 25, 2009) -- Taiwanese equipment maker Jenn Chong Plastics Machinery Works Co. Ltd. plans to double its manufacturing capacity, as it showed a blown film line at NPE that was bound for a Canadian customer.

The Tai Pao, Taiwan-based company plans to add another 43,000 square feet to its existing facility, giving it about 75,000 square feet, as demand for its film extruders, monofilament extruders and strapping machines grows.

Sales have been hit from the economic slowdown but the company has a diversified business that has minimized the impact, said Sales Manager James Huang. Sales have been growing 15 to 20 percent a year, he said.

“The facility has to be expanded to meet our growth,” he said. The company has about 30 employees.

At NPE, the firm was showing a blown film line with a 55 millimeter extruder running a Dow LDPE resin. The company sold the machine to a Canadian bag maker, which had agreed to let the company exhibit it at the show before delivery, Huang said.
