Schulman planning new masterbatch plant in India
FAIRLAWN, OHIO (October, 2007) -- A. Schulman, Inc. plans to establish a masterbatch facility in western India, an area that the company considers a “key geographic growth market.” The firm said the facility will start with one line that will manufacture the company’s masterbatch products for the packaging, appliance and consumer products markets.

Cabot completes expansion in China
TIANJIN (October 27, 2009) -- Cabot Corp. has completed a 150,000-metric-ton capacity expansion at its carbon black facility in Tianjin. The facility’s annual production capacity now is nearly 300,000 tons, the company said.

Goldwind to form epoxide resin JV
URUMQI, CHINA (October 27, 2009) -- China’s leading maker of wind turbine generators, Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology Co. Ltd. of Urumqi, has announced a plan to establish a joint venture epoxide resin plant, which is expected to help the parent company reduce material cost and improve quality of its wind turbine products.

Dow Corning and Wacker expanding in China
ZHANGJIAGANG, CHINA (October 26, 2009) -- Dow Corning Corp. and Wacker Chemie AG have started construction of the second phase of their pyrogenic silica plant in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu province.

Yulin Energy licenses Ineos technology
YULIN, CHINA (October 26, 2009) -- China’s Yulin Energy and Chemical Co. Ltd. has signed a licensing agreement with Ineos Technologies for polypropylene and polyethylene factories it plans to build in Shaanxi province, China. Both factories, to be located outside Yulin, are expected to be operational in 2013.

FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, GERMANY (October 26, 2009) -- Preliminary figures from Fakuma exhibition organizer P.E. Schall GmbH & Co. KG show that 37,281 people traveled to Friedrichshafen for this year’s trade show, down about 11 percent from the 2008 total of 41,856.

Thai company appeals halt to chemical projects
BANGKOK (October 26, 2009) -- Petroleum Authority of Thailand (PTT) has appealed an injunction issued by the Central Administrative Court that ordered government agencies to suspend investment in chemical projects in Rayong Province, south of Bangkok.

Cereplast develops algae-based bioplastics
HAWTHORNE, CALIF. (October 26, 2009) -- Bioplastics maker Cereplast Inc. plans to launch a line of bioplastic resins based on all-natural algae by the end of 2010. The company said the algae-based resins could be blended with polypropylene or other standard resins and used in injection molded or thermoformed parts.

Xi’an Aircraft acquires Austrian supplier FACC
XI'AN, CHINA(October 19, 2009) -- Xi’an Aircraft Industry (Group) Co. Ltd. will acquire a 91.25 percent stake in Austrian composites maker FACC AG, part of the Chinese firm’s plans to expand in international aviation markets.

Two Indian housewares firms continue expansion
GUANGZHOU, CHINA (October 19, 2009) -- Plastic packaging extruder Specialty Polyfilms India Pvt. Ltd. invested in a significant capacity expansion in August, as the company sees growth for its plastic food wrap. Meantime, household goods injection molder Princeware International Pvt. Ltd. is planning to add 15 injection molding machines at its Mumbai headquarters factory.

Liansu builds extrusion plants across China
GUANGZHOU, CHINA (October 19, 2009) -- Liansu Group, one of China’s largest plastic pipe makers, has opened a new factory in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, to target growing domestic demand for infrastructure projects. The company has also broken ground on new extrusion plants in Daqing, Heilongjiang province, and in Urumqi, Xinjiang. Liansu is also planning a pipe factory near Xi’an, Shaanxi province.
