Snappy innovation for plastics packaging
OYONNAX, FRANCE (July 21, 2009) -- The breakage-resistant property of plastics is an advantage in most applications but not in production of ampoules, which are opened by snapping away the neck. Now,
the French plastic processor Sériplast has developed a technology that uses irradiation to embrittle the neck of a polypropylene (PP) ampoule, allowing it to be "snapped" open without the risk of
sharp glass splinters.
UK manufacturers better placed for growth than US firms

Sabic gets Chinese approval for Sinopec joint venture

Hayco places 14-machine order with Ferromatik
HONG KONG (July 14, 2009) -- German injection machinery maker Ferromatik Milacron announced this week it has received an order for 14 machines ranging up to 650 metric tons from Hayco Manufacturing
Ltd. of Hong Kong. The first seven machines will be delivered to Hayco’s manufacturing plant in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, before the end of the year.

US renewing antidumping duties on Asian plastic bags
WASHINGTON (July 14, 2009) -- The U.S. Department of Commerce is conducting an annual administrative review of a 2004 antidumping order on imports of plastic grocery and shopping bags from Malaysia,
China and Thailand. The agency will announce its preliminary ruling on whether to continue existing antidumping duties bags imported from China on July 22.
